Cat trap or enigmatic attraction of boxes
Fact 1: Cats love boxes.
Fact 2: The box cannot be tiny enough that they won’t try to fit in.
Jumping in – jumping out, sniffing, snuggling, sleeping inside (or half-in, half-out – if the box is too small), scratching – wrapped up: boxes are so much fun! Whenever a cat finds a box, you can immediately see its excitement. A box is the perfect place to hide. Scientifically seen it offers safety from predators while they can stalk the environment. Lurking for prey probably is so exhausting that they (virtually unseen) fall asleep. In summary, new boxes are a win-win situation in our household: I love my new shoes and my cats adore their new sleeping places.

That is so true. But I have to ask: why!?!?

I suppose it is the combination of “Oh, that’s new” & “yeah, nobody sees me in here” 🙂

I love it. Maybe cats are mathematicians & the geometry just feels right.

It’s the same in our house. They’ve never met a box they didn’t like. Beautiful cats you have!

Gorgeous. We accidentally ended up with four cats!! I love that I almost always have one and often 3 or 4 in my Workshop/room. One climbed into a picnic basket and spent the night once. They also love rubbing their little faces on backpacks I find. Is it the smells?

Yeah, I suppose it’s the smell – my cats also love my hiking boots and backpacks 😉
while doing some craftwork, they are always especially helpful: catching every wire or yarn, chasing pearls and beads….
