Self-awareness
Gosh, who is this gorgeous fellow? Who is this girl with hair like a mop? Looking at ones mirror image might not always be a pleasure, but still we recognize ourselves. Self-awareness is an important trait directly associated with higher intelligence.
Scientists try to explore which animals are conscious and self-aware, whether animals can learn self-awareness or whether it is innate. Philosophers call it the mind-body problem. Animals cannot tell us how they feel or think, how they see others, whether they feel shame and pride. Though, I cannot answer the question, I am assuming that this monkey enjoys playing with the water and whatever he sees reflected in the surface.
Lucile from Bridging Lacunas has challenged me to join the 5 day Black and White Challenge. Today is Day 2 of the B&W challenge. I would like to nominate Crisisalive to join the challenge with me. I came across some of her touching pictures and really, really like them.
To join the Black & White photo challenge, you must post B&W photography for the next five days. Each day you nominate another photographer to enter the challenge.
As a dedicated photoholic, I am member of Lucile’s Photo101 Rehab – if you like to join as well, here is the link.
What a lovely image. My dog will occasionally spot her reflection in the glass door on my tv cabinet. She will lay on her belly stating at herself, wagging her tail and give a happy little growl and bark.
