Seasonal changes – bear’s garlic
Spring has colored the forest in green again. Currently, the ground is covered with bear’s garlic. You can smell it all over the place.
In January, I started posting pictures of my running route. In 2015, I will post pictures of spots of this route every month to capture the seasonal changes. Cardinal Guzman had that brilliant idea – if you also want to join or find out more about our monthly seasonal changes challenge visit his blog for instructions.
Mr Nerd and me keep collecting it and thus, we already had quite some delicious wild garlic dinners (soup, quiche, potato-bear’s garlic-strudel). Yummy!
The previous seasonal changes posts were way colder and some full of snow:
Seasonal changes 3Â – Spring is close
Seasonal changes 1Â – Winter wonderland
I don’t think that I’ve ever tried bear’s garlic. Your post makes me want to taste it!

Great photos, reminds me of cycling along the canal in Edinburgh in spring time; there was part of the journey that was heavy with the smell of wild garlic.

It’s quite a different sight in the forest this month. Beautiful photos.
I have never seen it nor tried. Though it might be unpleasant smell when walking in the forest. Is it?
Your description makes me want to try it.

It is a strong but fresh smell. If you like bear’s garlic, it is not really unpleasant. This time of the year in Austria, most of the restaurants offer it in their dishes.

I’d love to try it. Guess it won’t be there anymore in July!

Unless they freeze some, it won’t be available any more. It will start blossoming soon and then it looks similar to lilies of the valley which would be poisonous. Usually, people do not collect it then to be sure not to mistake them

Pity. I’ll try it another time.
It might be beautiful when they look like lilies!
