Ain’t no mountain high enough
Today, we climbed up the Rax Haidsteig in lower Austria. It was cold and windy, but another great hike. We passed some chamois and had lots of fun on the via ferrata.
Via ferratas are protected ways of climbing up a mountain. There are fixed iron ropes mounted on the wall on which you can secure yourself. This way, you are limited in case of falling and might access routes which otherwise would be too adventourous or too risky for less-experienced mountaineers.
In response to Lucile’s Photo101Rehab for all photography lovers.
Wow. You’re brave. Climbing with low temps. You can only be a pro!
Thanks for posting for the photo rehab!

🙂 if you are on the wall it isn’t too steep. Looking up from the bottom it might seem insuperable, but as always, you have to go step by step until you reach the top

That’s the pro talking…just looking I’m trembling….
I was hiking in Switzerland once and was caught by a storm and lightening. To shortcut the defend we took another path. I had to go through a stone wall like that for a few meters only and it was very scary. We had no equipment though.

oh, I would not be brave without the equipment either and it took me quite some time until I had enough trust in the gear 🙂

I guess so, as you know how important it’s to use them! It was silly what we did. Somehow we had to choose between two risky situations. But still I prefer hiking than climbing.
