Local Sightseeing: Schloss Laxenburg
Laxenburg Palace was one of the Habsburg residences, not far from Vienna with a charming park area.
Emperor Joseph I and Empress Elisabeth I spent their honeymoon at the Laxenburg Palace. Until today, the palace and park are popular wedding locations.
This post is part of my monthly series Local Sightseeing. Living in Vienna, I have of course lots of architectural, historical and artistic sights basically in front of my house. However, the more rural Niederösterreich (lower Austria) has some unknown or forgotten sights, some of which I will present in this monthly series.
Local Sightseeing Post I: Whisky and shoes
Local Sightseeing Post II: Above the tree tops
Local Sightseeing Post III: Schlosshof
Oh I love the yellow colour of the buildings in Austria. Gorgeous!!

Thanks a lot. I do the same thing when being abroad. I’m always amazed what history those old buildings are linked to. ☺

Exactly.. and they are always so rich in colour and open to the public.. Where as here in England Church’s feel cold and their treasures are hidden away 🙂
